Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) Permit 1

Unified Carrier Registration

2024 UCR Permit

Unified Carrier Registration is a Federal Registration Permit required for most Interstate Carriers and brokers. If you have a U.S. DOT Number, MC Number or FF Number, you will likely also need the UCR Registration to comply on the Federal Level.

What is the UCR?

The UCR (Unified Carrier Registration) is a Federal Program that replaced the (SSRS) Single State Registration System and the Old Bingo Card System. The UCR Program requires individuals and companies that operate a Commercial Motor Vehicle in Interstate or International Commerce to register their business with a participating state and pay an annual fee based on the size of their fleet (Info from MCS-150). This includes ALL Carriers – Private, Exempt, or For Hire, Brokers, Freight Forwarders and Leasing Companies are also required to register and pay a fee unless they also operate as a Motor Carrier.

Like SSRS, Fees collected from the UCR System will be distributed by the Federal Government to the States to support its safety programs and US DOT Officer Training. The UCR Fees are subject to change yearly.
